AIESEC in Finland exist because Finland need leadership
This page explains why Finland need leadership, what kind of leadership does Finland need, how AIESEC provide leadership Finland need.
Issues Finland is facing in a nutshell
One of Finland’s main policy challenges is the loss in competitiveness over the course of the last decade, during which its current account went from a surplus into a deficit. Over the past five years it lost 23% of its share in world exports. In April 2013 the Commission's in-depth review of Finland found that the country was experiencing macroeconomic imbalances.
In the short term, the main challenge is to attract new investments to the Finnish economy, in order to improve employment and productivity and to replace the industries that have declined over recent years. The economy should take more advantage of the country’s excellent research system to create innovative products and services and diversify towards less energy intensive sectors. Agreement between social partners on wage developments should also take due account of recent and prospective competitiveness developments.
A longer term challenge is presented by Finland's ageing population. To address this it will be important to improve labour market participation (particularly of older workers, long-term unemployed and the young) and the sustainability of pension and healthcare systems. In the case of healthcare systems, efficiency could be strengthened by continuing to pursue the restructuring of the municipal system. (European Comission 2013)
Youth should play a huge role in making Finland a better place and the world a better place as it is shown in the video above. So youth should be developed as the current world calls us for. And youth should be developed to create a new world the older generation can't even invision. By developing youth in this way, youth will have a bigger purpose in the society.
So what is current state of society and what is the current state of youth in Finland?
-
The amount of socially excluded youth has increased.
-
Resorting to child and youth psychiatric services, foster care, and open care in child welfare has increased.
-
The amount of youth retiring on disability pension is increasing drastically.
-
Binge drinking among 16 to 18-year-olds has increased and the proportion of those who drink until very drunk is at its peak since 1977.
-
The amount of overweight youth has increased and the overweight youth are heavier than before.
-
The amount of victims of viulance, bullying, and theft is higher than in twenty years.
-
Within Scandinavia, Finnish families suffer from family violence and excessive sub-stance abuse the most.
-
The proportion of poor families with children has increased significantly
-
The amount of homeless youth has begun to increase.
-
Young people's payment defalts have doubled.
-
Approximately 200 young people are left without a basic education certificate yearly and approximately 8 000 young people in each age group are left without further education.
-
The school success of foreign language students is clearly weaker than that of their peers and they are often left outside further education.
-
