Flow of interaction
Things to remember
  • BE ATTRACTIVE! Students get a lot of offers every day, so why should they go to you?

  • Have a clear goal for the day! – How many applications do you want to get? How many people do you want to talk with? And then make sure to reach your goal.

  • Clear message! Drive YOUR Future!

  • SMILE, be proactive and energetic! – no one will come to you if you are not smiling.

Seller’s rule of thumb, “I don’t go home until I have reached my goal for the day.” – And it works.

  • Coffee/Tea! Students and coffee/tea are almost one and the same. If you have hot free coffee/tea to offer, you will get exclusive attention from students, and they will even stay to hear about AIESEC.

  • Cookie/Candies for rewards for listening to you. This is just a small extra that usually lightens up the mood and makes a positive association to you.

  • Flyers! Flyers are super important, give them a small flyer with a QR code for your Facebook page, and then they can follow you and your info-events, and stay in touch with AIESEC.

  • Banners! Be super visible

  • Any other relevant material you have! Look professional, but not messy. Have varieties of articles

  • Computer! Make people sign-up on the spot. You need to have the knowledge of how successful your reach was, so have the students sign-up for membership there. At the info-stand you have as much time as you allow yourself to have, so you can easily get a student to sign-up there.  Also use the computer for playing videos if you see it needed.

  • Kilroy ISIC card!

To bring

Info Stands

Info-stands in where you meet the students, en masse. Students in these environments are usually on the move, because either they are seeking information from someone who is not you, or they are trying to get to class on time. You therefore need to consider a method where you make students feel calmer and more comfortable, in this way you will be able to present your whole message to them.

  • Attract student!

  • How to attract? Make contact! Making contact can be done in various ways.

  • Once you have contact to the person, call them over! When calling someone you don’t have to actually scream “hey, YOU! Come overhere!” – but you can just make a simple waving gesture with your hand. It can be compared to flirting with someone you see across the bar.

  • Now you have them at your stand! What’s next? You remember the 5 steps of sales: Attract, Introduce, Small-talk, Pitch and Close. Since you already attracted the person, you now need to introduce!

  • Introduction and Small-talking: Hey, what’s your name? (they answer) – You: repeat their name! This means you are creating trust with the person.

  •  Where are you from? (they answer) You: ah nice! (if you have been there, comment on the place and only say positive things! E.g. ah you are from Tornio, I have been there once in the winter – it’s so beautiful at that time of the year!)

  • What do you study? (they answer) You: (regardless of what they study you answer the following) Interesting! And what do you want to do with this once you are done? (they answer)

  • Pitch (the pitch is based on their last answer to what they study and what they want to do once they are done – the pitch is where you customize AIESEC to them! Don’t use the same pitch for 2 different persons. Adjust it!)

  • Closing: in the closing you need to be aggressive to reach your goal. Only rule if the person is what you are looking for – DO NOT let them walk away before leaving their contact information/signing-up for membership.

  • Estimated time of talking to 1 student: Max. 7 minutes! – If you go over, the student loses interest and will not sign-up. Keep it relevant, exclusive and interesting for the student.
